Capacity Building Workshop on Building
Energy Efficiency Measurements Standards and Labeling
The workshop was held October 26- 28, 2015, at the National
Metrology Institute and Standards (NIST) campus in Gaithersburg, MD. More than
27 people from 24 countries representing different government agencies,
particularly from the National Metrology Institutes of the five metrology
regions: ANDIMET, CAMET, CARIMET, NORAMET, SURAMET.
The workshop was delivered during three days focusing on
measurement challenges associated with energy efficiency technologies, including
building energy performance for households and discussions on a variety of
technologies that can be leveraged to improve energy efficiency in SIM member
countries. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to visit Net
Zero Energy Residential Test Facility, which is a net zero energy home that
produces at least as much energy as it consumes over the course of the year. The
laboratory is located at the National Metrology Institute of Standards (NIST).
Based on the finding of the previous regional workshops, NIST and OAS
identified some major areas to provide the training.
