•  Construction of Indicators

In collaboration with UNESCO, PRIE provides support for countries in their data collection tasks according the questionnaires administered by UNESCO Institute of Statistics (UIS). The UIS then calculates the indicators considered by PRIE.

- Working methodology: PRIE has organized working groups composed of professionals from all participating countries with a goal to improve the conceptual and methodological aspects of the indicators. The work of these groups aims to broaden the knowledge of the different analytical categories, and thus contribute to a better understanding of education and society in the region.

•  Technical Cooperation

PRIE provides technical cooperation to countries so they may better respond to the UIS questionnaires as well as improve their educational information and statistics systems.

  - Working methodology: The technical cooperation program offers three alternatives for countries, according to their needs:
    1. Cooperation for individual countries
2. Cooperation for a group of countries sharing common interests
3. Study visits to a particular country in order to learn from its experiences

•  Dissemination and Analysis

PRIE constructs preliminary and regional reports based upon the indicators and disseminates information via the world wide web.

- Working methodology: Preliminary versions of reports will be presented during the meetings of Ministers of Education. Following countries' review, reports will be published and disseminated. A PRIE website hosted by the Organization of American States is a primary vehicle for disseminating project results and data.
