II Ministerial Mexico 2008             

 

The Second Meeting of Ministers and High Authorities on Science and Technology, was held in Mexico City on October 27 and 28, hosted by the Government of Mexico through the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT). The OAS Department of Science, Technology and Innovation serves as Technical Secretariat and provides needed support for the meeting’s organization and success.  

This meeting focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Innovation for Prosperity. Specifically, it addressed science, technology, engineering and innovation:  
 
1. Science, technology, engineering, innovation, and public policies for integral development
a. Social inclusion and cohesion
b. Sustainable food production
 
2. Science, technology, engineering, and innovation as tools for sustainable natural resource management
a. Biodiversity, environment, and biotechnology
b. Energy resources  
 
3. Science, technology, engineering, and innovation as tools for increasing productivity
a. Education and human-capacity building
